I put this in another thread, now it's driving me crazy so I put it here: Okay riddle me this: I have been making my bias binding by using the chart, making a square, cutting into triangles, sewing it together into the pants that's how I remember how to put it together - thanks mom!
How is the end result different in hers, other than hers results in less seams? Her method doesn't seem like such a remarkably radical idea, seems much better to me.
How come the other method is so prevalent and this one is not? It's driving me nuts. I can't get my head around the geometry of it so I can't figure it out myself. Does anyone know? Then songbird answered this: I'm not sure myself, Pam! For my last quilt, I used the method where you fold a corner up, then continue folding so you have a small, folded piece to deal with.
It was so easy I used my stripology ruler! You still need to sew the pieces together, but it was just as fast as cutting binding on WOF.
